Governor Beshear Appoints Members to Kentucky Arts Council

FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Arts Council to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2012:

  • Paul E. Fourshee, of Cadiz, is a retail lumber yard manager for Fourshee Building Supply. He also served as chairman of the Trigg County Retail Task Force. The appointment replaces Phyllis C. Liebman, whose term has expired.
  • Ronald E. Johnson, of Fort Mitchell, is a partner and practicing attorney at Schachter & Hendy, P.S.C. He received his Doctorate of Law from the University of Louisville. The appointment replaces Gregory S. Shumate, whose term has expired.
  • Sonya G. Baker, of Murray, is an associate professor at Murray State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Yale University. The appointment replaces Jo G. Marshall, whose term has expired.

The governor also has reappointed Everett D. McCorvey to serve as a member of the Kentucky Arts Council for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2012.

  • McCorvey, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. He received is Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Alabama.

The Kentucky Arts Council is made up of 16 members, all of which are appointed by the governor. The council develops and promotes a broadly conceived state policy of support for the arts in Kentucky.
