Patrick Crowley reports Louisville businessman and Democratic candidate for Senate Greg Fischer and the DC-area consulting firm McMahon, Squier, Lapp, and Associates are no longer working together. The firm had been providing media consulting services to the campaign.
That firm's client list includes EMILY's list, Senator Joe Biden (D-Delaware), and former Senator John Breaux (D-Louisiana).
Last week, the Fischer camp added earned media press specialist Nicole Candler of Louisville, and they expect to pursue new additions to the campaign now that their contract with McMahon, Squier, Lapp and Associates was ended.
Candler told politickerky.com there were "creative opinion differences" between the campaign and McMahon, Squier, Lapp, and Associates.
"They wanted to run a traditional campaign," said Candler. "We haven't hired a replacement yet, but we are going to make it a priority to use Kentucky-based consultants who understand the local markets."
Candler did not expect the reshuffling to impact planned media buys by the campaign.
"We are on schedule for where we wanted to be," noted Candler. "We are too far out to be running ads right now."
Candler previously handled public relations duties for the Smoke Free Louisville Campaign and a local push to raise the cigarette excise tax.
The Fischer campaign - who's internal poll numbers show they are closest to primary frontrunner Bruce Lunsford - has attempted to frame their candidate as a DC outsider amid reports that Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Senator Chuck Schumer (D-New York) has been providing support to Lunsford during the race.
