LOUISVILLE - U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) said the line-up of speakers that preceded her at today's rally for Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford in Louisville was an "all-star" one. Among the high-profile Democrats who spoke were several rumored potential candidates who may be eyeing a Senate run next time around, in 2010.
U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Southgate) currently holds the seat up for election in two years. He last secured the seat in 2004, narrowly beating out now-Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo (D-Hazard).
Incidentally, Mongiardo was the only speaker to reference Bunning's seat during remarks at today's event.
"We have two United States Senators. One is not doing us any harm. As a matter of fact he is not doing anything," said Mongiardo. "We'll take care of Jim Bunning in 2 years."
