Louisville businessman Chris Thieneman today reiterated his focus on Monday's KET debate as the jumping-off point for his campaign to win the Republican nomination in the 3rd Congressional District.Chris Thieneman (R-Louisville)

Thieneman's comments come after the news that all four Republican candidates - including frontrunner Anne Northup - will be present at the April 28 candidate forum organized by state public television network KET.

"I encourage everyone to tune into the debate and give it their full attention," Thieneman told PolitickerKY.com today. "It should be a very spirited debate. That's how I anticipate it. I look forward to [Northup's] answers to some of the issues I am ready and prepared to talk about."

Northup’s campaign, meanwhile, says their candidate was planning to attend the forum all along.

Construction contractor Warren Stone (R-Independence) had plenty of room to stretch out on the stage for KET's televised 4th Congressional District GOP debate on Monday.

Congressman John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) held another in a series of public meetings with 3rd District constituents at a local coffee shop in Louisville this morning. John Yarmuth (D-Louisville)

During the course of a two-hour availability at a Heine Brothers Coffee location, Yarmuth met with a handful of Louisvillians. Discussion between the freshman Congressman and citizens ranged from the Iraq war to energy policy to the politics of the U.S. Senate.

Yarmuth noted he has held similar meetings in venues throughout the district, saying they help keep him in touch with the electorate.

The campaign of Oldham County physician Michael Kelley today released an official statement on the controversy surrounding his opponent's use of the word "boy" to describe Senator Barack Obama.

Michael Kelley, the Democratic opponent of 4th District Congressman Geoff Davis (R-Hebron), said Davis’ comments about Presidential candidate Barack Obama were “thoughtless,” but said his campaign against the incumbent would focus on other issues. Kelley, a physician from Oldham County, told PolitickerKY.com Davis showed “poor judgement.”

The campaign of Anne Northup (R-Louisville) today announced it out-raised Northup's competition in her bid to regain the 3rd Congressional District seat she lost in 2006.

Northup will report $461,007 raised in the 1Q, with the campaign keeping $428,000 on-hand as of the March 31 deadline.

The open seat race for Kentucky's 2nd Congressional District looks to be drawing a lot of attention from campaign contributors. This morning, the campaigns of the only Republican candidate and one of two Democratic contenders announced their first quarter fundraising totals.

6th District Congressman Ben Chandler (D-Versailles) joins fellow Kentucky incumbent Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) with over $1 million on hand at the end of the first fundraising cycle of 2008.

Adding $73,075 in 1Q contributions, Chandler's campaign now holds $1,049,625 in funds as it prepares for the November elections. $628,544 has been raised by Chandler during this election cycle.

Congressman John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) of Kentucky's 3rd District will deliver the Democratic response to President Bush's weekly radio address on Saturday.

Yarmuth will focus on the Iraq war and domestic economic turmoil, as well as the relationship between the two, according to a statement dispatched by the office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi this afternoon.

The address will air at 11:06 am tomorrow on numerous radio networks, including those of C-SPAN, the AP, the BBC, and Fox News Radio.
