No Obama at KDP fundraiser

The campaign of Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois) confirmed this morning that the Presidential candidate will not be in the state for the Kentucky Democratic Party's Friday fundraiser.

A spokesperson for the campaign said Obama will be in Oregon on Friday and Saturday.

Still, Kentuckians can still expect a visit from Obama in the forthcoming weeks. 

"He will definitely be in the state before May 20," said Clark Stevens, the Kentucky campaign's spokesman.

Grayson goes Ivy League, again

Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson (R-Park Hills) will join eleven of his counterparts from the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) for a conference at Harvard University on April 29.

Grayson and his fellow Secretaries will be discussing the presidential primary process during the one-day symposium. Grayson himself chairs the NASS' Presidential Primary Subcommittee.  read more »

Clinton campaign update

The Kentucky campaign of Senator Hillary Clinton confirmed the roles of staffers Jamie Radice and Jonathan Hurst today in a press release.

As was reported last week on PolitickerKY.com, Radice will serve as Kentucky Communications Director for Clinton. She previously worked for the campaign in Texas and Tennessee.

Voter registration deadline today

The deadline for Kentucky voters to register for the May 20 primary election is today.

Registration forms must be mailed to a voter's local county clerk with an April 21 postmark. County Clerks' offices throughout the Commonwealth will also accept forms submitted by hand until the close of business today.  read more »

Clinton HQ set to open in Louisville

Mark Hebert reports the Presidential campaign of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-New York) will open its Kentucky headquarters tomorrow in Louisville.

The headquarters will be located at 1357 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. A grand opening event will be held tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm.

Voter Registration Up as Primary Approaches

The Kentucky electorate expanded by 21,000 new voters in January and February, as the May 20 presidential primary in the Commonwealth will be relevant for the first time in decades.

USA Today reports registration figures in six of the eight states with forthcoming Democratic primaries have seen a similar spike in registrations.

April 22 is the last day for Kentucky voters to register to be eligible to vote in the primary election.
