New website emphasizing social networking unveiled for Yarmuth

U.S. Rep John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) launched a new website today emphasizing the use of social networking media to inform and connect supporters and potential voters.

Located at yarmuthforcongress.com, the updated site includes now-political standard links to the candidate's profiles and networks on heavily-trafficked social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace. In addition, visitors can track the Congressman via a site called "Twitter", which provides frequent, yet brief updates about a subject's daily routine.

For example, Yarmuth's "Twitter" page currently states the freshman U.S. Rep is "in D.C." Earlier updates tell visitors Yarmuth was "on the House floor" or "at the PGA charity golf event."

Visitors to the new site can also link to Yarmuth's Youtube page, which includes testimonial videos from a number of supporters.

A campaign spokesperson also notes that the "Issues" section of Yarmuth's new site is updated from Yarmuth's last run in 2006.

The "energy" portion of that section now includes references to Yarmuth's recent support of "Use it or Lose it" legislation that would impose fines on oil companies leasing federal lands but not drilling upon them.

Yarmuth faces former U.S. Rep Anne Northup (R-Louisville), whom he unseated in 2006, in a rematch this year.

The HARD NUMBERS Supporting Yarmuth on Bread/Butter

For what I think are the sanest, most-level-headed, pocket-book-reasons-- I am WON to Yarmuth. My decision was based on the un-bias of statistical analysis, the results of which I shall report/convey here.

I was able to find a Website with all the votes that have passed the House in Yarmuth's term. In an utterly science-only way, I tried to determine which votes for me-- a PAUPER-- meaning independently-broke and homeless if missing next-month's-pay-- would regard as best for my wallet. THEN I looked: (1) at the recommendations of the Democratic Party; (2) at Yarmuth's votes. The Democrats DID overwhelmingly GO for issues embodied in legislation good-for-my-wallet; BUT YARMUTH GOT AN EVEN HIGHER SCORE-- ALMOST 100% WHAT WOULD BE BEST FOR MY MONEY!!!

To put precision on this, the figure for pure-science types was that of the designated "good votes" for this pauper, Yarmuth was 'statistically significant' at (don't freak over the numerics, now, this is an immense figure) 1.00E-1571; this for plainer folk would be like the odds of winning a $1million lotto 104+ series of quadrillion times.

So I HAVE to think Yarmuth "has done the better job" than the predecessor. It shows up in the service-orientation his staff devotes to bread-butter issues with me. But: you try 'em at Yarmuth's: they have like 'caseworkers' (what I'd call them) that handle beefs with the US Government, something like the staff of Wendell Ford used to do. WHY WOULD MY BEST SENSE VOTE OUT SUCH A GUY DOING THIS KINDA STUFF???
