Kentuckian wins national award for legislative staffers

One of the nineteen legislative staff achievement awards announced last week by the National Conference of State Legislatures went to Jamie Jo Franklin, a Paintsville native working as chief of staff for Kentucky's state House majority caucus.

Franklin was one of two recipients of the NCSL's award for staffers working in the "Research and Committee Section."

"Staff members who receive this award have shown excellence in supporting the work of their state legislature and in strengthening the legislative institution," said NCSL Staff Chair Gary VanLandingham in a press release. "Winners of the Legislative Staff Achievement Awards represent the best of state legislative staff in America today."

Franklin has worked with the legislature for 27 years as a legislative analyst and committee administratior.

She was honored for her work in the state House in 2004 with the passage of a resolution on the occassion of her fiftieth birthday.
