Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Bruce Lunsford officially rolled out his campaign's new website yesterday, with the campaign saying the site would be "powerful resource in our fight against obstructionist Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell."
The site's content shows the Lunsford campaign looking ahead to a potential general election campaign against McConnell. While it features many standard components, such as a blog, a volunteer "action" center, and web-based fundraising capabilities, Lunsford's site also includes a section called "He Did What???"
There, visitors find a series of attacks on Senator McConnell's legislative record. Principle among these is the charge that McConnell "wrote a blank check for the Iraq war twice," referencing the four-term Senator's vote in favor of $70 billion in funds for military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lunsford still must get through the seven candidate field in the Democratic primary to face McConnell in the general election. This week, his primary opponent Greg Fischer also unveiled a new site, and the campaign of Mike Cassaro notes they are developing new content for their candidate's web presence. The sites for both those candidates presently avoid mentioning any of their opponents by name.
