The candidates in the 2nd Congressional District race are scheduled to square off in their fourth debate of the general election season on Thursday in Bowling Green.
The latest debate between state Sens. Brett Guthrie (R-Bowling Green) and David Boswell (D-Owensboro) will be sponsored by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Insight Communications, and the Bowling Green TV station WBKO.
The debate is scheduled to start at 8:30 CT at Bowling Green Junior High.
The three previous debates between Guthrie and Boswell have grown increasingly contentious in each installment. A late-August agricultural forum between the two found the candidates agreeing on nearly every issue while the same could essentially be said for the statewide televised debate on Kentucky Educational Television in early September.
The last meeting between the two, in Elizabethtown, was far more acrimonious and came on the heels of the injection of funds into the district by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Boswell's behalf.
The DCCC ran an ad Guthrie's campaign labelled as "false and libelous" and that spot was the subject of a good degree of sparring in the last debate.
Since then, the DCCC has aired another similar spot against Guthrie.
