The campaign of Louisville Businessman Greg Fischer circulated a release today touting the support of some former supporters of ex-Senate candidate Andrew Horne, in the immediate aftermath of Horne's endorsement of Bruce Lunsford in the Democratic Senatorial Primary.
The release announces a "group of national bloggers" known as the Blue America PAC who previously endorsed Horne now are siding with Fischer. That group consists of the left-leaning sites DownwithTyranny.com, CrooksandLiars.com, and FireDogLake.com.
Along with that announcement, excerpts from an February 9 "live blog" interview of Horne on FireDogLake.com was included with the release.
In that interview, Horne wrote that supporting Lunsford against McConnell would be "a choice between the lesser of two evils." Horne also wrote "We can't beat McConnell with McConnell-lite," a statement the Fischer camp attributes to be a reference to Lunsford's candidacy.
Lunsford and Horne both addressed these comments during today's endorsement announcement.
The Fischer camp also highlighted their support by six local chapters of Change for Kentucky, a "progressive" political organization affiliated with Democracy for America. Change for Kentucky previously endorsed Horne statewide, but has refrained from issuing a similar statewide endorsement following that candidate's withdrawl from the race (Note: See Correction Below).
"Horne's comments in February about Lunsford speak for themselves," said Fischer's campaign manager A.J. Carrillo. "Most of the clubs that endorsed Horne support us because they want a candidate that stands up for their values and that's something Lunsford can't offer."
CORRECTION: 4/4/08 - Change for Kentucky no longer is a PAC that endorses candidates statewide. The organization's legal changed after the initial endorsement of Colonel Horne. Now, only local chapters issue endorsements.

thanks for the info. I will correct the error.
correction
Change for Kentucky has not "refrained from issuing a similar statewide endorsement." Instead, the statewide organization changed its entity status and cannot legally endorse a candidate. From now on, all endorsements must come from individual chapters.
