Among the 1,776 donors who contributed to President-elect Barack Obama's transition team are ten Kentucky residents - one of whom gave the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Kentuckians donated a total of $7,350 of the more than $1.1 million total contributed to Obama's transition project, according to a list released by the transition team and posted on its website. $5,000 of that, however, came from one long-time Obama supporter - Louisville businessman Matthew Barzun.
Barzun was a prolific fundraiser for Obama's general election effort and is listed among the top "bundlers" for the President-elect, having raised at least $500,000 for the campaign.
Other Kentucky donors to the Transition team were spread across the state, from Bowling Green, Bagdad, and Lexington, among other locales.
Kentucky contributed more to Obama's transition than some neighboring states. $550 went to the transition team from three West Virginia donors, while 14 Tennesseans contributed a total of $3,600.
One of those Tennessee contributors was Franklin, TN resident Ashley Judd - a University of Kentucky alum who campaigned for Kentucky Democrats in Louisville days before the 2008 general election.
Kentucky's total narrowly fell short of Ohio's, despite a sizeable population for the Buckeye state. 16 Ohioans gave $8,025 to the Transition project.
The donor list released by the Obama campaign includes contributions through November 15. Further lists are expected on a "monthly basis."
The Obama-Biden Transition team says all contributions to its efforts come from "individuals' personal funds," and not registered lobbyists, political action committees, or unions.
