The campaign of state Sen. David Boswell (D-Sorgho) said today reports that Boswell may quit the race for the Democratic nomination for the open 2nd Congressional district seat are "the fabrication of another campaign."
Boswell's campaign manager Jim Cole said speculation about Boswell's exit was planted "based on the fact that Senator Boswell had strict ethics legislation he was working on" in the legislature. Cole noted Boswell did not want to focus on fundraising during these efforts.
Last week, Cole told PolitickerKY.com the campaign's first-quarter FEC reports would be light on receipts due to Boswell's work in the legislature. A spokesman for the campaign of Boswell's opponent, Daviess County Judge/Executive Reid Haire, said their fundraising effort would likely net more than three times what Boswell would take in.
As the legislative session winds to an official close by Sine Die on April 15, Cole said the Boswell campaign now will begin fundraising in earnest.
