FEC reports for 1st District Congressman Ed Whitfield (R-Hopkinsville) show the seven-term incumbent is sitting on a $1 million campaign warchest at the end of the first fundraising quarter.
Whitfield accumulated $93,400 in contributions in the 1Q, including $74,500 from PACs and other political committees and $18,900 from individual donors. In this election cycle, Whitfield has raised a total of $560,231 in contributions.
Whitfield's campaign spent over $91,000 in the 1Q, for a total of $314,552 this election cycle.
The campaign entered the 1Q with $998,025 on hand, and will enter the second fundraising quarter holding $1,015,555.
Whitfield's opponent in the 1st District is Democrat Heather Ryan. Ryan's campaign has yet to file a 1Q FEC report. The deadline to do so is April 15.
