Northup with $461k 1Q

The campaign of Anne Northup (R-Louisville) today announced it out-raised Northup's competition in her bid to regain the 3rd Congressional District seat she lost in 2006.

Northup will report $461,007 raised in the 1Q, with the campaign keeping $428,000 on-hand as of the March 31 deadline.

A member of Congress from 1996 to 2006, Northup lost to current incumbent John Yarmuth (D-Louisville) in the last round of Congressional elections. Yarmuth's campaign told PolitickerKY.com it raised just over $250k in the 1Q of 2008, while pulling in nearly $1.1 million for the election cycle.

"In only eight weeks, Anne has raised nearly $500,000," said Campaign Chair Ted Jackson in a release touting Northup's 1Q. "This is clear evidence that the people of Jefferson County are suffering from buyer’s remorse. Whatever John Yarmuth represents, it is not the majority view of the voters of this district. "

Almost the entire 3rd district is comprised of Louisville and Jefferson County.
