Public policy advocacy group MoveOn.org will rally supporters outside of Senator Mitch McConnell's Louisville office on Thursday as part of the group's campaign to connect the current economic downturn to the war in Iraq.
MoveOn.org dispatched emails to Kentucky supporters asking them to gather at McConnell's office at 12 pm on April 24. Organizers will then hold a press conference to release data from a poll commissioned by MoveOn.org earlier this year.
According to the group, the poll "shows that voters in all 50 states see a link between the war and our sinking economy. Folks across the country think getting out of Iraq is one of the best ways to help fix our deepening economic crisis."
Event attendees also hope to deliver the poll results to McConnell's office after the press conference.
The event is part of a nationwide effort by MoveOn.org to mobilize supporters around their argument that the war and a tumultuous economy are linked. Similar events will be held across the country and the Commonwealth.
Another is planned for Paducah, in western Kentucky.
MoveOn.org's dispatches note the release of the polling data will be followed by media and "bird-dogging" campaigns against Senator John McCain and Republican candidates for Senate.
