Lucas endorses Obama at Covington HQ grand opening

Patrick Crowley, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports that former 4th District Congressman Ken Lucas (D-Covington) has endorsed the Presidential Campaign of Illinois Senator Barack Obama.

Lucas, a noted "blue dog" Democrat during his six years in Congress, spoke of his support of Obama at the opening of the candidate's campaign headquarters in Covington.

Crowley reports Lucas' comments as follows:

"Barack Obama is a fresh face," said Lucas, a Boone County Democrat who served three terms in Washington. "The country is kind of going in the wrong direction right now with the war in Iraq and the recession, and he brings a lot of fresh ideas and hope to people. I think that's what we need right now."

The Covington headquarters is the latest to open for the Obama campaign in Kentucky, after other offices sprung up in Louisville, Lexingto, Paducah, Pikeville, Bowling Green, and Owensboro.
