The campaign of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford rolled out a third thirty-second television advertisement today.
The ad, which will air in Lexington and Louisville, is entitled "Two Sides."
While Lunsford holds a frame displaying images of workers and families, he comments that "there are two sides to America. One: where Kentuckians live - hardworking people trying to afford health care for their families, and keep their homes out of foreclosure."
Upon flipping the frame to reveal a video of George W. Bush shaking hands with Mitch McConnell, and says the second "side" is "Washington, where politicians get gold-plated healthcare and cater to special interests while riding in chauffeured limousines."
A release from the Lunsford camp says the image of McConnell and Bush is from the signing of bankruptcy reform legislation.
“It makes me angry when I think about Mitch McConnell sitting up on Capitol Hill with his taxpayer-funded health care while half a million Kentuckians go without any health insurance. I will go to Washington and fight for Kentucky’s working families, not the special interests,” Lunsford said in a statement dispatched in conjunction with the ad.
The campaign also said their previous two ads would continue to air outside of Lexington and Louisville.
The unveiling of "Two Sides" comes hot on the heels of the release of a 60-second ad by the camp of Louisville businessman Greg Fischer. That ad features Fischer claiming that "replacing Mitch McConnell with Bruce Lunsford is no change at all."
Lunsford's ads, conversely, remain focused on McConnell, the four-term incumbent Republican whom the winner of the Democratic Senate primary will face. Earlier Lunsford spots briefly referenced the Senator, but this is the first to feature his image.
