KY-2: Haire on the airwaves today

Daviess County Judge/Executive Reid Haire will launch his first television advertisement today in his bid for the Democratic nomination in Kentucky's open 2nd Congressional District.

"Our buy starts today, district-wide," said Haire's campaign manager Tim Shock.

Given the dispersion of voters throughout the district, Shock said "the only way to get to them all is in their living room."

The ad is a straightforward spot, showing Haire interacting with a series of individuals at meetings, fire stations, and doorsteps. It also offers a call-and-response between a narrator listing projects with which Haire is involved and a shot of an individual exclaiming "Thanks, Reid."

Shock indicated the 30-second spot would run on all cable systems in the 2nd District. The buy also includes broadcast channels out of Louisville - the market encompassing nearly 60 percent of the district - and Bowling Green.

Shock said the campaign will be on the air until the May 20 primary, but a second ad would likely replace the one released today before that date.

A campaign website for Haire is also expected to be launched in the coming days. Shock noted there were some delays in the site's development because domain names associated with Haire's candidacy were snatched up by a Republican party activist prior to Haire's campaign getting off the ground.

Haire faces state Senator David Boswell (D-Sorgho) in the Democratic primary. Boswell was significantly outraised by Haire in the first 1Q, but he has continued campaigning throughout the district.

His campaign did not return requests for comment on their media plans.
