Mfume in Louisville today to push Obama's GOTV effort

Former Congressman and ex-NAACP president Kwesi Mfume (D-Maryland) will make an appearance in Louisville today on behalf of the Presidential campaign of Illinois Senator Barack Obama.

Mfume will appear at the Louisville Glassworks, located at 815 W. Market Street, with Obama supporter and Louisville Metro Council member David Tandy at 4:00pm.

A release from Obama's Kentucky campaign says Mfume will be rallying support for the campaign's weekend Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) push throughout Kentucky.

That effort received a major boost this week after Senator Obama's Monday appearance in Louisville. A spokesman from the Obama campaign said 1,400 volunteers were added to the rolls after that event.

The Obama campaign's GOTV effort kicked off yesterday from 48 staging locations throughout the state.
