Anne Northup's (R-Louisville) campaign sounds satisfied with the way primary day is going thus far.
"It sounds like the Republican turnout is satisfactory, but of course when you don't have a race at the top of the ticket it will always diminish the likelihood that the voters will go to the polls," said Northup's campaign manager, Scott Will in a statement emailed to PolitickerKY.com. "All in all, we're happy with how the day in progressing."
Northup had earlier expressed some concern that low turnout could lead to a "small group" - such as supporters of Congressman Ron Paul's lingering presidential bid - holding sway over the election.
"We think a strong turnout will be in our favor, so we are really eager to see a lot of people go to the polls," said Northup earlier this month.
Northup is otherwise having a normal campaign day, according to Will.
"It's business as usual for Anne today. She voted at 9:00am and has spent the rest of her time on the phone and in meetings," said Will. "Tonight we have our "Victory Party" and tomorrow morning she'll be up bright and early for an interview with Joe Elliott."
Joe Elliott is the host of a local radio talk show program.
The former Congresswoman is seeking to regain the 3rd Congressional District seat she lost in 2006 to now-Congressman John Yarmuth (D-Louisville).
To face Yarmuth again in November, she must first beat developer Chris Thieneman and UPS employee Bob Devore, Jr. in today's primary.
