McCon sees the train coming at him at full speed and he's frozen. All he can claim is "clout." He will represent the losing minority party if he's so lucky as to win and they will probably dump him for incompetence, someone has to pay the price for the upcoming Republican disaster.
Lunsford, as a new Senate member of the winning party, will have much more "clout" as an important swing vote than the has been McConnell.
